Colorado legally defined "marriage" as being between a man and a woman back in 2006 when the state was much more conservative, but beginning next week (May 1) gay and lesbian couples can legally enter into civil unions -- which give them all of the same legal rights as heterosexual couples.
Oh, and we're also one of two states that legalized recreational pot use last year. ;)
