stalking is the new black
About a year ago, when I first got into the Vorkosigan series, I got the bright idea to do some kind of reference database or something akin to the HP Lexicon, but for the Vor books. And since I was a very bored child, and didn't have internet access at the time, I did so.
And now I'm finally showing it to you guys! Find the Vorreference here, in .pdf format.
What this is: a list of canon facts that might be useful to fic writers. Stuff like: "Rosalie Vorvayne's skirt and jacket are described as 'conservative daywear'," and "Ekaterin's mourning garb is also traditional (ACC 99), a high-necked black skirt-and-dress and gray bolero with black trim," and "Sergyar has a diverse ecosystem with an evolutionary trend towards six-legged, insectlike land animals, and round coelenterates (jellyfishish things) living primarily in the water and air. A few examples of native Sergyaran life are. . . ," and etc. It's thirty-one pages long and about 474 KB big and talks about everything from Barrayaran culture and government to Graf Station.
What's it not: a collection of detailed book summaries, a collection of quotes (although there are some), complete, entirely legible at some points (think 'notes you took in psych class that made perfect sense at the time! really!), or proofread (typos ahoy! there's even one on the first page).
I'm hosting it on my school server, so if you're planning to access it a lot, please download a copy. If you'd like to edit this file, go ahead, if you'd like to send this file to someone else, go ahead, if you'd like to finish it and want my help . . . I can't promise I'll be much use, but hey, let me know. I actually really enjoyed writing all this up (world's biggest dork! \o/) and could probably be persuaded to take it back up again (and by 'persuaded' i mean 'given the slightest hint that someone might enjoy it').
