I love the way the tide slowly shifts from Spike/Faith facing off against Buffy to Faith/Buffy facing off against Spike and finally to all three in sympatico.

The pacing to do this isn't easy but you slide from one state to the next without a hitch.

And it's hot--even I, the staunt PG13-er can feel it.

Yeah, I really wanted to stay in sync with all the possible variations but also stay true to the characters. I'm really pleased that this came across, it was a finely balanced thing, as you say. It's quite funny because I was really scared of writing Buffy in this, but much more I was terrified of Faith, so writing Buffy was the tonic for the Faith-fear. Heee. In the end the girls took over and Spike hardly got a look in! :D

Heeee! I have to say that any other time than the force of the First Evil bearing down on them might have necessitated the rating been lifted quite a bit :)
