GRRRR!

Jan 08, 2012 15:16

Someone has totally fucked with the Secret Circle novels page on Wikipedia. It looks like they've replaced descriptions of the books with descriptions of show episodes or something.

I am so so so angry about this. I'm going to see if I can go through the revisions and fix it.

I wish fans of the show didn't have to go crap on the books.

Ugh.

I know there was some wiki entry (though probably not Wikipedia) for Vampire Diaries which was passing off show stuff as book canon. Apparently, Stefan and Damon grew up in the Salvatore Boarding House, didn't you know? UGH.

Bleggghhhh. I reverted the entry to before the changes, but honestly the old version is pretty bad too. So I'm trying to beef it up a little to hopefully deter more "helpful" editing. And apparently the edit only happened earlier today. Which is weird because...I don't look at it for years, and then the ONE day I go there, is the day someone fucks it up?

I hate things like this. There is clearly a section for the TV Show... Ugh. *hugs*

After going through the revisions and stuff, it looks like the person who did it might just be one of those Wiki people who goes around trying to gain cred by significantly editing as many pages as possible. If you go there now, you can see the page like it was before their edits, and it's pretty badly formatted and poorly written. (But at least not grossly inaccurate.) I think the person was like, "This entry needs help! I will fill in the blanks!" and they did some search and got a deluge of info from the shows, and not knowing the difference, pasted it all in.

That's my theory, anyway.
