Are there any used CD places? Of course, they'd probably have a similar ratio of music.
The local Boise State public radio station, once a year or so, has a CD sale of lots of their old music they don't play any more. The classical music station might do something similar. (And this is where you get really obscure stuff, at least if my experience at their CD sale last year is any indication.)
Also, libraries often have music to check out. There's a better chance that they'd have a larger ratio of classical music to other music than other places.
(This is the Utah Symphony Orchestra. I didn't see any music available from the Salt Lake Symphony Orchestra. You may also be able to contact them via the webpage and ask if there's any local store that carries their music.)
I saw this on Teh Intarwebzzz!!!!1one and I had to show you. "I wanted to know what a mormon raptor would look like...so I drew one" http://imgur.com/11DGM.jpg
Cool kids download. LJ alone has good communities for sharing music. And that's if you're really not into demonoid. And then cool kids go and buy the stuff they really like. And no, it doesn't hurt the sales becase had I not started downloading, I'd never start buying anything. Now, however, I regularly buy classical CD's in Vancouver's spectacular Sikoras Classical.

It's through Amazon, but it's a local artist, at least. :) There may also be local places that sell their music.
Or iTunes, if you have it:

I don't know if the estore thing is local, or how much of it benefits the radio station, but they linked to the sites.
It's hard to recommend a local music store, since I'm not local, but this is perhaps the next best thing.
