Drive to Drive? + Soup

Aug 10, 2012 15:40

So, for a long time I've had a real mental block when it came to driving. I can't even tell you how many driving permits I've gone through... but this current one... I feel like I'm going to make it. I'm definitely driving more this time, and I feel like I'm getting more used to it--so that's good. I definitely don't want to go through this process ( Read more... )

soup, zoup!, driving, panera

Good luck with driving! Driving is definitely something that really takes practice to get used too. Believe me, I was in the same boat as you. I didn't get my license till I was 21, and I honestly felt like I never would. I didn't have anyone who could really teach me, (Mom was the only one, and she is wheelchair bound so we didn't think she could, but since she still has her driver's licenses, they gave her clearance.) My mom kept telling me, it's like riding a bike, once you learn how to do it, than you never forget. SHE. WAS. WRONG. I didn't start to feel really comfortable driving until after I got my license. (My first permit was when I was 16. I probably went through 3 or 4.) Oh geez I'm rambling..

Anyways good luck! It's such a great feeling to drive with the windows down and the music playing, leaving you with your thoughts. ^-^ It's one of my favorite things!

I don't have a panera anywhere close to my, Or a Zoup! But the chicken tortillia soup sounds really yummy. But then, I guess I'll never get to try it..... DX

Thanks! I think I've gone through 4 or 5 permits by now but... I'm just tired of freaking myself out over it. With practice I think I'll be alright.

If you've got a Super Target near you, you might be able to try it because they do (at least at the moment) carry it. I'm hoping Panera has only taken it off their menu temporarily and that it'll be back someday. *crosses fingers*

I don't even have a normal target near me. I live in the land where Wal-mart is the hot spot to hangout on friday nights. (True story) There is one in a town about 40 miles from where I live. (Sucks to be a small town girl haha)

Maybe it will be seasonal... :-)

That's a shame. It's delicious soup. I always like to have it when I'm not feeling well since it makes me feel better.

Hopefully!

You can do it! It's cool, I was super nervous too. Here's something that might help: Matt's sister had to take her driving test (not her permit test, the actual driving test) at 4 or 5 times before she passed. I think she actually hit a car one of those times. But she is a normal person who now has her license and can drive! So it's okay to mess up. Also, I was less nervous this time around too. I think part of it is that mom was (for the most part) WAY better about not freaking out about every little thing.

I've never tried Zoup. I wonder if there's one around here anywhere? I know they have them in Ohio. Have you happened to notice what kind of veggie soups they have?

I think she's gotten better with it too. And yeah, I think telling myself it won't be the end of the world if I mess up is going to make this a lot easier.

I've only been there once, but I really enjoyed it. I can't speak for the soups, since I actually had a sandwich there (chicken toscana)--but it was a *really* good sandwich and mom and dad enjoyed the soups. We actually checked when we were there if they had one in Madision 'cause we thought you'd like it, but they don't have any in Wisconsin.

As for vegetarian soups... let's see... just on their list of soups they have today, there's vegetable bounty, vegetarian split pea, lemon lentil, and gazpacho. I think they have a lot more and they revolve them. And this is obviously not vegetarian, but I feel the need to note it because it's so weird... they have a cheeseburger soup.

Exactly. And if you mess up you have all the time in the world to retry... I only had like 1 extra time to try it since they make you wait 24 hours and that definitely made it more stressful.

Aw, that sucks. I'll definitely try it sometime I'm home.

Oooh, that's awesome! So many choices! Usually even with soup places there's only one or two options. And gazpacho is the best thing ever. But cheeseburger soup does not sound like the best thing... it sounds wrong!

Yep, there's always that.

You definitely should. It's cool because before you order they offer to let you try any of the soups first.

Yeah, and it's one of those places where they have markers if things are vegetarian/dairy free and stuff, so it's easy to see what's what. And yeah... it does sound kinda wrong. But I'm not really into beefy soups.

Driving is so much fun! It just takes time and practice to get used to. I was nervous too at first.

I'm not sure if I'll ever find it fun, but as long as I can tolerate it then I'll be happy about that.

Yeah, that's okay too. Good luck then!

At the risk of sounding sexist, the average male enjoys driving more than the average female. There is something about commanding powerful machinery that appeals to the hunter/warrior instinct in our primitive brains . . .

Anyway, good luck finding a soup you really enjoy at Zoup!

You'll do it, Wendy! Just do not give up. I went through about 5 permits before I finally got my license, but I did it! If I can, anyone can, believe me. I just really stuck with practicing this time. And if you aren't as nervous that will be the key (I admit I had to take half of my sister's Xanax to calm me down, but hell, it worked!)

I don't know what your course/tasks are, but just practice whatever those maneuvers are and go out to the course itself on a Sunday (when it's probably closed) and practice there.

I'm rooting for you!:)
