All the best for your hols in Alicante. If it's warm enough, I can recommend the "Aqualandia" http://www.aqualandia.net/ just outside of Benidorm, and of course the big American-style amusement park "Terra Mittica" up the same way witha fab view over the coastline. Our kids loved it there - so did we. Lots for small kids, too.

Erm. We were in Benidorm, as it happens. All of, oh, I think it was 300m from the beach? :-)
Mundomar and Terra Mitica were, indeed, good places to visit. As I recall, himself had some good fun on the dodgems with the rest of us - hunting his Nanny was -most- enjoyed, based on the number of chirpy responses later. He then had some fun on the -him- sized dodgems, so it was pretty good all round. He had some trouble with the concept of "just him" though. At first, he said he was too big for the little dodgems. :-)
All in all, we all had a great time. Including burying Tornado on the beach. Repeatedly. He kept digging holes to bury himself in. I think he enjoyed the one time I buried him enough that I couldn't pull him out (without pulling his arms off, of course) because he kept trying to repeat it...

And for sandcastles on the beach, for some different scenery, I can recommend Villa Joyosa, about halfway betwen Alicante & Benidorm. http://www.benidorm-spotlight.com/costa-blanca/villajoyosa.htm Nice sandy beach, for the four of you.
(we've holiday'ed here quite a bit - Vic 's mum spends some months every year down there, we're there every coupla years.)
