“Are you sure, Miles?” Phoenix breathed, as they came up for air between kisses. “I mean, we don’t have to …”
Miles silenced him with a finger on his lips. “I’m sure. Neither of us are children, Phoenix … or virgins, for that matter.”
“Speak for yourself!” Phoenix looked suitably scandalised for precisely five seconds before his demeanour cracked

I... in a horrible nasty way I'm kind of glad you did write that because 1) it made me squiiirrrrmmm and I think it's good to be that affected once in a while and 2) I know someone who fetishizes raped!Miles and I am glad in a vicious and petty way that I now have something to show her about how that would NOT be sexy AT ALL.
... er, that is to say you wrote this very well and in all its realistic horror you did the damn thing RIGHT, which is very important. So thank you for the terrible because it is very good terrible. D:

I'm glad I handled it okay as I know it is a touchy subject and I didn't want it to be dealt with lightheartedly or used as a vehicle for THE HEALING POWER OF THE PHOENIX PENIS.

Although in the case of this story, it was more like "We call this state dealing with something we now can't unimagine."

I think the smell of lavender will make me sick for the next week.

The ending was perfect. You showed that there is a little light at the end of the tunnel for Edgeworth but that it would be a difficult journey for both him and Phoenix to make.
Poor Miles. The fandom does like piling the angst onto his broad shoulders doesn't it? XD

It was an intense, chilling, harrowing ride, yet I was left with a pale glimmer of hope at the end.

And thank you, I'm glad it worked for you. I am very tired of this particular pairing being treated as "hot" or in some kind of uber-angst way.
I am very fond of the character of Miles and also, in fact, of Von Karma. Consequently I dislike seeing them warped out of character for titillation. I rather hoped to portray it differently than usual.
Oddly enough, it's one of the stories that I am most proud of, although I find it almost impossible to reread and it can't be archived anywhere online other than here. Ahah.

Sorry, pet, didn't mean to frighten you. Quite the contrary, your gem a story was given as an antidote to the "all-healing cock" syndrome.
It's a longish thread about Sues invading the fandom, but Here's the link to the post about "Close Your Eyes".
PS:
Mind if I ask why can't you archive the story anywhere else?
btw:
I understand why you can't revisit some stories. I have one that I adore, but it's really dark and filled with angst. I got half-way through it and had to put it aside. I was so wiped out I couldn't write anything for 5 months. It took me 4 more before I could pick up that particular story.
I finished it, but I feel like I wimped out on the last chapter. It's good, but not as powerful as the earlier chapters. I'm determined to go back and do a revision -- once I find the courage.

I can't archive this anywhere because it's not really smutty/hawt to fit places like AFFnet, but the (fairly explicit) theme of child abuse makes it not adhere to the rules of the OBJECTION! archive and FFNet. So I leave it here under an 18 filter as that works fine XD
And yes I have a half-finished fic I need to complete. Sadly it deals with Miles and I was just getting to his daddy issues when my own father died. It put me off and i haven't gone back since, although I really want to finish it.
