So, my deep fic thought for Friday was: Lance should be the reason JC ended up on Ellen. Like he agreed to do the show, then calls JC up and tells him to do it for him. Just because I need some more schemeing!Lance before the intervention.
Friday, I got stuck again trying to do the phone call with Kelly. It's an important plot point and I think that's why I'm having so much trouble with it. If it had gone better then, I might have resisted the video game urge...

And another deep fic!thought. Kelly needs a flaw so she doesn't turn out like a Mary Sue. I'm not sure what. Tempted to say that she downplays JC's concerns too much and that's the flaw. Not sure if that's enough to keep her interesting.

Okay, as long as you'll get on my case if she turns Mary Sue-ish. That's my fear because I see a lot of threesome fics turn out like that--at least when one of them is a woman.
Your thinking as to why she's so keen? That's perfect. I think that's part of what I've been missing in my attempts to get the phone conversation right. Not that she's going to really mention it, but I think I need that in my head when I write it. I haven't been thinking "she could maybe lose Joey" but oh, that's important.
I don't think she could lose Joey. But... part of her explanation to JC about the threesome is "we'll all be happier this way" and that's got to be a part of it.
And now, I'm wondering how much both of them confide in Lance. Hmm...
