This was so sad! ::hugs:: But still enjoyable, I particularly liked the line about how Masumi had promised to protect her forever. It's certainly something he'd do and I can easily see him beating himself up and blaming himself for her being gone.
My favorite line was:
He wasn't going to forget her face anytime soon, but her mannerisms, the little things she did, the way she laughed - he was finding it harder to hold onto them.
I lost my Mom back in 1999 and I find the same thing to be true. I'll never forget what she looked like but things like her laugh, or the way her favorite perfume smelled...those fade to quickly.

I think the scene that affected me most is imagining a rock like Akashi breaking down.
