Thankful Thursday

Those of you who follow me on Twitter know my son left yesterday morning for a three-day, two-night field trip with about 70 other classmates (3rd, 4th, 5th graders). They're doing Lewis and Clark studies on the Oregon coast. My husband was supposed to go on the trip, also, to be a chaperone and work on the chuck wagon ( Read more... )

I bet we'll be the same when MrD is older. We already have a hard time giving him up to babysitters - we've only done it twice, and both times it was to my own parents (who adore him almost as much as we do and are very good with babies) and yet we STILL both freaked out! Go you for being brave and not letting him hear your real reaction to the buffalo stew. ;)

He is too cute.

I'm the same way, and I have two of them, so I don't think it's an only child thing. G would probably starve on a trip like that, and I would be worrying about it the WHOLE time. So is it bad that I'm actually thankful our schools don't seem to do any kind of outdoor school thing?

I was pretty sure our son wouldn't eat a thing on his first science camp trip. He managed. He had a GREAT time and came back changed in some undefinable, but really good way! Also an only, so I know what you're feeling, but these things are amazing for them.

Son would NEVER have eaten buffalo. Or elk.

It is tolerable, I suppose, but not enough to tempt him.

How sweet that he wanted to talk to you!
