I fell down a rabbit hole this week, not a literal one

More's the pity.

there is more than a bit of art in most good science

There's more than a bit of science in most good art.

She still thinks she writes mysteries. When was there last a mystery in any of her books? Were they ever whodunits? I thought they used to be action.

dance with castanets on your creative soulI don't know why, but I hate that ( ... )

There are TOTALLY mysteries. WILL Anita/Merry have sex.change their sexual relationship with Character X? WILL it work out? WILL another person enter the sexual mix? These are all MUCH more important concepts than murder or political intrigue I mean GHOD.

WILL Anita/Merry have sex.change their sexual relationship with Character X?

a: Yes. b: Only for the worse.

WILL it work out?

He'll never ever ever be able to leave her ever.

WILL another person enter the sexual mix?

Of course! The real mystery is how many doomed souls will be absorbed into the collective.

The actual real mystery is how this series is still considered a mystery series and why it is selling?

Are there really adults out there who need to be told that Lewis Carroll wrote Alice in Wonderland?

No, I didn’t reread ALICE IN WONDERLAND by Lewis Carrol, but that’s where the original idea of following a strange rabbit down it’s hole and falling into something, or someplace, totally unexpected came from. Thank you for that clarification LKH.

I’ve gotten so good that my writing is great even when the character development, plot, or world building, has derailed

LKH is a GOLDEN GOD!

Uh, no.

I need to write the stuff that doesn’t work, then cut it, to find the stuff that does work.

Um, Laurell? You're not supposed to publish the stuff that doesn't work and throw away the stuff that does work. You're supposed to do it the other way around.

Oh good grief. I feel like we started off pretty good despite the, "Here is a story I've told a thousand times before, but let me retell it for you again instead of mentioning it and linking or paraphrasing," device which she loves to do. The thing about writing whether it is actually writing or outline or whatever is this weird perpetuation of, 'there is a magical formula, I went and did all these things and listened to all these people, and here is my formula which works even though sometimes there is a quirky side adventure' except there isn't. There is no magical formula, people are not perpetuating a healthy ideal concerning writing talking about their special pens or need for rabbit holes or whatever, just write and if it works keep doing whatever it is you are doing.

Get your bingo cards ready. One for writing advice, one for mentioning other authors or books because she r riter, one for deadlines, one for an artiste struggles for her work, and one for beating the dead metaphor until it is super dead.
