I mean, I'm still gonna snark it. But I think it is nice on her part. Though when the heck did he stop being Boy Scout and become bad boy? I thought his whole 'problem' was that he *wouldn't* accept "being a monster"?

Okay, I take this comment back (I'm a-sporking-rat too, it's my bookflog account).

From everything I've read of the story on snarkings of it, it's not a story. It's a pile of spiteful masturbation, ill-written and pointless and mean and all about lauding Anita while lambasting anyone who isn't her. I expected it to be bad, but I didn't expect this. It's exceptional even for LKH. It isn't a short story being given to us for free, it's clearly something so awful that even her over-indulgent publishers must have told her it was crap that should never be sold. And she's trying to pass it off as a GIFT.

I'm disgusted. She's not nice. She's really, really not.

After reading it, I would totally agree with this comment.

Part of what makes it so bad is that NOTHING happens. It's just this conversation/lecture from Anita/humiliation for Ellen.

It's boggling my mind that this is done under the proviso of "it won't be free once you can afford to buy it." Also I'm pretty sure that all the people affected by the shutdown aren't just sitting around with nothing better to do.

just read it and it's a hate fest. Pretty much Anita comparing herself to another woman and deciding she's better than the woman trying to say Anita is prettier and Anita denying it. Then throw in all the men ego-petting Anita and you have half if not more of the entire story. It's pretty much Anita protesting too much that she's not all that while talking about her sex life and the other woman throwing a fit that's stereotypical of LKH novels. :/
