A possible rethink on a few things.

As I originally mentioned in my reasonings for creating ljunited, I wanted, most of all, to make sure that those candidates for LiveJournal's somewhat dubiously empowered member advisory board:

1> Are talented, dedicated, and hopefully experienced.
2> Adhere to a clear, responsible standard as the basis for their votes.
3> Have a strong level of LJ ( Read more... )

I'd like to see a policy of LJ putting all the news on one comm - or at least, linking all the news items (with clearly descriptive headlines) from the main news comm. During the last kerfuffle a lot of people felt that they deliberately buried items (or significant qualifiers to changes) in articles/comms where people would not expect to read that type of information. It's been generally true of LJ in the past few years that I've been far more likely to hear of important changes through other users than through official channels ( ... )

I think this is a good idea, though I suspect we'll need to clarify the recommendations into some steps that we could suggest as policy to LJ's mamagement.

If there are multiple comms which are necessary due to amount of diverse posts, then at least there should be some kind of regular summary post from the person running communication for that comm, with special updates if a certain post suddenly becomes very active, due to it touching on important new issues.

I'd just like to suggest an alternative way of doing this... anyone who would like to be nominated by this group, should make a post stating why they would like to be nominated... (i.e. what policies they would support etc.)...

Then, you can make a poll and we can all vote for our top two candidates.

THEN... voila, we have a roster.

*and* it saves us time of having to debate what policies/changes/etc. we would like to see.

I am open to this idea, and other similar ideas on matters of procedure... and this might be the most effective method of doing it.

We're going to have to eventually make a group decision as to what our process will be, though! Bleh.
