Likely to anger someone... (protest issue)

Scheduled throughout the day today are a boycott/protests against legislation in the U.S. House that would make it a felony to be an illegal immigrant. Uhm, hello, key words here: "illegal immigrant," meaning not legal to be here, so why hasn't been a felony already?!? Hell, if there are illegal immigrants protesting, then we know where to look for 'em, don't we? They're calling it Un Dia Sin Inmigrantes ("A Day Without Immigrants"), hell, if they're going to protesting about immigrating here, send 'em back. I'm in agreement with one senator who said "pay a fine, pay a price, then learn English and get on a path to citizenship." (key words there, too: learn English, it should be required). They'll even be waving the flags of their native countries instead of the U.S. flag, which spurns me to ask again, why did they move here if their proud of where they came from and not of being here? ANYways, let's just tighten our immigration laws, "throw back" the illegal ones, and require English understanding and speaking in order to be in the workplace. I'm reminded of a hotel I managed we lost the entire housekeeping staff, only one of which spoke english when we were drug-raided of all things. The staff they caught were arrested for being illegal and selling drugs for additional money out of the hotel! The rest ran past the front desk (where I was the only english-speaking person that day) shouting out that they quit. My entire staff, gone. To make it fun, when it came to hiring when they first came to the hotel, we were forced to hire them as there were laws at the time (don't know if there still are) that made it illegal to not hire someone simply because they didn't speak english. It made interviewing them impossible and the owner was forced to hire them on the spot ... lot of good it did. We had two months were it was me and the owner's daughter (who ran the place) alternating front desk and housekeeping duties during the day and when housekeeping was finished off-and-on sleeping shifts. I made hella cash, but it was HELL. Try interviewing potential employees while you're checking people in and out or cleaning rooms or even doing the nightly paperwork or monthly auditing (which I did there). ANYways, just a personal illegal immigrant story.
