Generally they release information in the evening, at least, that's when I always seem to see them.

And it's 7:30 PM here. :)

And now my profile page is all goofed up, sigh.

Yeah, I don't dig the new profile pages at all. I suppose we'll get used to it though.

Why would anyone want to pay for a permanent account on a service that's now covered with ads?

If you have a paid account, or a perm account, there are no ads. I can't remember the last time I saw an ad.

The junk makes me mad as a wet hen at times, buttttt, I'm not sure of the longevity of some of the other journals out there, and I'm not impressed with My Space, Facebook, or Word Press. So I'll keep plugging along until something better comes along.

I have a permanent account. I bought it before the ads. I would be buying more now if there were still no ads, but because of the ads, I'll never buy one again. Not personally seeing the ads doesn't prevent them from ruining the quality of the service.

For example, during this election season, LiveJournal was showing Yes on Prop 8 ads constantly to my California friends who weren't logged in or didn't have paid/permanent accounts. I cannot in good conscience encourage anybody to join or spend money on a website that is paid for by ads that outlawed my marriage.
