Great holiday reading

I'm re-reading Stardust by Neil Gaiman.  It might be my favorite of his novels, and one of my favorite fantasy novels ever.  Not only is the story clever, fun, and intriguing, but his prose style touches on fantastic.  Sparse (as it should be) but inventive, with well-chosen words and sentence structures - an all-to-rare phenomenon in today's ( Read more... )

That story is wonderful.

I also notice that, like Neverwhere, it was written in a highly visual style. Allowing for ease of adaptation into, oh, I don't know, a movie maybe?

Oh, that would be downright orgasmic. Have you seen Mirrormask? 'Course you have. Stupid question. Of course, the novel of Neverwhere was written after the BBC movie, but still...
