I notice alot of times in communities theres the owner and then there are mods. What are mods? People that help run the community or something??

Moderators. Actually, technically, they're co-maintainers, I think. They can delete posts, edit posts, and pretty much have the same power as the owner, but they were granted that power by the owner and thus are probably pretty trusted.

Er, a little correction: they can't edit posts you post. They can edit the community info, though.
