Woman wants to take bus to Planned Parenthood. Bus driver refuses, on the grounds that OMG BORTIUNZ! Bus driver is fired. Bus driver then claims religious discrimination.

My experience with comments on the Statesman is that if anything can be turned into an attack on Obama and/or illegal immigrants, then it will be. I haven't read through the comments in detail, but I didn't see any of that at all, which is just further proof that it's a bleed-through from some kind of alternate dimension.

This man seems to be doing exactly what you claim he's not. He willfully disobeyed his supervisor, was fired from his job, and is now fighting it in court. He took the consequences of standing up for his beliefs and is trying to use them to change the system. If he wins this court case it would set a president for anybody to refuse to perform a job duty that required them to help someone obtain an abortion. That would be a huge victory for the pro-lifers. Why do you think an evangelist church is paying for his lawyer?

For all he knew, she could have been going there to picket AGAINST abortion.

Bus drivers are not entitled to know the reasons why their passengers are going where they're going. It's not like anyone was asking him to work the aspiration machine, for God's sake.

WTFery abounds. In a country where unemployment is still somewhere around one in ten people... this guy is STILL willing to lose his job for the chance to oppress women. Thanks, man. Way to be a bro.

Hey, maybe a more deserving person will get the job now. He's doing his part for the unemployed!

This is true. There is something noble about stepping aside so that somebody who has empathy for their fellow humans can have a shot at succeeding.

Way to go bus driver. >:P
