Receiving a birthday reminder from LJ for a much-loved friend of mine who died June 2009 prompted me to post something here:

Carter was an oxymoron - grouchy, crusty, and at the same time, incredibly lovable and gentle and kind.

I know that carter would be standing there with his usual cheesy grin on his face, with a talk nerdy to me shirt on and flagon in his hand. He is/will be keeping the party going for us up there or wherever it is.
