Just a heads up, I added text to 318, about Facebook accounts. Facebook accounts are closer to Plus accounts than OpenID, as they can do 15 userpics, 200 subscriptions, and can join communities, so they have their own FAQ ( Read more... )

Add users to your Friends list to view their entries on your Friends page. Other users can also list your OpenID account as a friend. This gives you access to their friends-only entries.

I just created a throwaway openID account to test upgrading. It went smoothly (though the lack of names for the year and day fields for birthday kind of threw me) and I discovered something that is really kind of neat - you can continue to login to the upgraded LJ account with the openID login. And asking around it appears that you can do the same with a Facebook-ID account as well.
