I love all of the basic - but true! - points in this interview. Writing from real life, whether it's conversations with your family and friends, or those you just overhear in a diner booth, is so valuable.
Research is also a must! We're lucky enough that we literally have a world's worth of information at our fingertips in the Internet. That info is not always accurate...but it can get you started on your way.
Great idea to write nonfiction when you're stuck in fiction. And I totally agree about the value of clearing your head with a walk or some other (physical) activity when you're stuck on a sentence or paragraph.
I love her books! On her website she says her advice to new authors is to write at least one page every day, that way you train every day and after a year you've got 365 pages and that's already a whole book. Great advice, methinks. :-)
