Nov 14, 2008 15:04

We have put together a new post which details out of all the specific feedback on the new profile we have received in all of our previous posts. We did this to let everyone know that we are listening to you, and that this is what we have heard. The following list is not intended to make any judgments on the items listed. We are not saying that ( Read more... )

кому как, тебе "найс", а я вот новый профиль вообще не раздуплю...
может быть моё сознание не такое гибкое как должно быть у человека живущего в 2008 году?

Very organized list, and I'm glad you put the postive feedback in there to show you're listening to those of us that like the profile.

Of course, I am vehemently against moving the Schools around at all, but I think I might have a slight bias. =P

Thank you, I hope this stops the bitching (temporarily)

Thanks for compiling this, very helpful to see it all in once place to think about.

One thing that has occured-a way of setting a max width for all site scheme pages would appeal to me; I prefer my columns to be roughly the width of my main column in my Layout, as defined by expressive-any more than that and I have to scroll my eyes too much.

So the max width setting would be a good thing for a lot of site scheme pages; it didn't used to matter so much but now I've got a widescreen laptop.

The way 500+ friends listed are handled is something I've never been happy with, but a massive friends cull helped deal with that one for me.

Agreed about a max width setting.

I have a widescreen laptop as well, and I can no longer maximize my browser when on Livejournal, because it stretches everything on the profile page too wide. Needs some kind of defined white space on the edges to keep it from stretching across the entire page, maybe.

This, or the option for a columns setting. Computer screens are squarish or wide screen, with the width generally outstripping the height. The fact that websites aren't moving to accommodate this is really annoying. Humans read by chunking information and the eye can only take so much width. You will get more info into the person if you minimize the lateral eye-movement required.

Has there been any consideration to an iGoogle style profile, with boxes for each section that could be dragged and dropped into formation by the preference of the user? (I'm sure people are going to scream at me for bringing it up -- I'm just curious about the technical issues, so please inhale and move on.) Even Gmail now has the ability (thanks to the Labs) to be a three-column layout with moveable components.

I like the idea of blurring numbers too, but I'd suggest they're only blurred for others, not for the owner of the journal or community. No reason we should lose access to our own stats.
