Were those stains old ones? I can get most things out, but there always stubborn ones that arise.

well I've tried it on stains that have sat for a while but nothing that I've already run through the washer and drier first.

You can use that plus a couple other extremely inexpensive ingredients to make an assload of good quality laundry detergent for much, much less than detergents you buy at the store.

Oh yeah, and baby poo from white sleepers will often come out with some hang-time in the sun. You can also soak stuff in hydrogen peroxide to whiten stuff. That's basically what Oxy-Clean is...

I've noticed that works for carrots. :) Hmm I've never found oxy-clean to be all that personally. The baby stuff did better IMHO than the regular but neither impressed me much but this stuff did--especially since it was only 99 cents and I can tell it will last a LONG time.

you know I saw a recipe for that. I was wondering if it was worth the work. I think my grandma used to make it as I remember her making some laundry detergent with this and that and who knows what.

Yeah Jon's brother was over the other day working on the car and saw it in our laundry room when he was washing up and said "Grandma used to have that soap in her laundry room". :) I think my grandma did too. It smells familiar to me.

How do you use it? I guess you rub it on for stains, but what about general washing?

for stains I wet the spot and rub it on, let it sit a minute and wash. For general I think you honestly grate it up and toss some in or mix it with other stuff to make you own laundry soap. I found this recipe:
