This is brilliant. Rory meeting war-torn Nine. The Doctor is usually there to be the advisor to the companion, but sometimes he needs someone to give advice and a shoulder to lean on, and Rory may arguably be the most suited, because he's seen things comparable and also has to deal with memories locked up in his head.

What did the TARDIS lead Rory to? Was he dreaming? Did he somehow traverse to another time within the TARDIS? Was Nine one of the many remnants I'm SURE the Doctor keeps of his old selves shoved into a corner of his mind that had been granted freedom for a moment? In any case.... I think that what happened was something that needed to. The TARDIS knows best eh?

Just stumbled across this and I love it! The Rory you've written is adorable, and I love how you've addressed the issue of him being so very old (and yet not) with all his memories - also love the idea that he can remember faces but he doesn't really remember the person or name BEHIND the face. (sooo sadddd)

As for meeting Nine, that's a fantastic idea and I love how perfect it is to have a future companion advise the Doctor when he needs it most. Beautiful.

The territory of "What did living 2000 years do to Rory?" is so unmined at this point, and I love that you went there, showed Rory's strength *and* helped Nine while you were at it. Cool fic. :)
