Not a lot has been happening around here lately. The weather has been pretty dismal, with lots of rain and grey, broody skies. This does not help my feeling of being overwhelmed by the world. I do try to get out of the house every day, but some days I fail at even that ( Read more... )

I'm glad that you have been getting out almost every day. It's good therapy. The wildlife sanctuary looks like a great place to go walking. I wish people would not pull up wildflowers, they are meant for everyone to enjoy. The ladyslippers are so pretty, so are the white flower. I love seeing red-tailed hawks.

It's also illegal to pick or dig them up. But yeah, good therapy. :)

I guess that lamppost [oops: make that spire--not reading carefully enough!] must be a good vantage point for the hawk!

The Lady's slipper is amazing, a really good photo.
I am surprised people are able to pick the flowers, in the Nature reserves where I go there is always someone ready to pounce if someone is seen attacking the flora! When we saw the Lady's Slipper in Spain a couple of years ago each plant was monitored with a stick, but I think that anyone had who made it up the mountain would have to be an enthusiast and therefore know not to touch.

I don't see many people out in the woods there, and almost never someone who works there.

I did think about telling someone at the visitor center to maybe put up a sign, but it was full of visiting schoolkids.
