getting there

I popped into the Arnold Arboretum yesterday, on my way to mum's. It's only a little out of the way, and I was craving trees and signs of spring. There is still plenty of snow on the ground, but there were bare patches, and several signs of spring, 'though we're at least two weeks behind where we were last year at this time.

Beautiful pictures! Aren't those witch hazels spectacular!

Same here, I think - we're two or three weeks behind on Spring. The blackthorn is only just starting to think about coming into blossom in the hedges.

Thank you! I love witch hazel. Crinkly petals are so cool.

Oh thank you, these pictures are like a promise. Spring is a little farther behind here, I need the reminder.

Wow, that's surprising! You're usually way ahead of us in the spring.

I went for a walk today, and there aren't any buds on anything yet. Crocuses are up, tulips and daffodils pushing their way up, skunk cabbage in full bloom, but no budding. There's frog eggs in the ponds. That's about it though, the trees and bushes are still asleep..
