I just took the mail out, and man, is it hot! Weatherbug says it's 95 degrees, but it feels hotter. As soon as I went out the door, it hit me like a wall. Then I got to the blacktop of the parking lot, and it got even worse. It was exactly like opening the oven door, except there was no yummy food ( Read more... )

i really like her book "We have always lived in the castle". that was a particular favorite as a child.

I read that one a couple of years ago. And of course, I read "The Lottery" many years ago. One of the most famous short stories ever. :)

hot here too (tho not *as* hot as you!); in the high 70s i think but then our humidity is much higher in general. have managed to avoid wearing socks since Saturday (walking sandals rule!).

was having a conversation with one of my netpals in Montreal about the weather - she was also looking forward to imminent thunderstorms, but i don't think they ever arrived for her :(

The humidity is what makes it so unbearable. I was in Vegas during April once, and it was 90 degrees, but the dry air made it much more tolerable. Still hot, though!

Montreal is enough north of us that they get quite different weather than we do. I bet they're even less used to the heat than we are!
