I've been reading all over the place (and all over my f-list) about the passing of Kurt Vonnegut. His was a unique voice, which will be greatly missed.

I had two near brushes with him: in my first year of college, he was supposed to come give a talk about Slaughterhouse Five, but he got sick and cancelled. They showed the movie and talked about

Mark Vonnegut is also the author of The Eden Express one of the best books on scziophrenia(sp?) I have ever read. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Eden_Express

In addition to being hillarious in places, it is a very accurate deptiction of what the disease seemed like to me when I was working at a mental hospital in New Mexico.
