Food for Thought

If God could make the world in seven days, He could make Jesus in seven months. Discuss.

EDIT: I know where I got my misinformation from. The church calendar needs to fit everything into one year, so if we made Advent last for nine months we wouldn't have time for everything else.

He didn't take nine months? Is there a timeline of this? I admit, I don't know my new testament as well as I should.

No, I was joking ;). But I have heard it was faster than a normal pregnancy. In the Qaran, he came out fully able to speak so he could explain that Mary hadn't been cheating on Joseph.

That's really cool! I wish I knew more about this sort of thing; comparative religious texts are really interesting.

Yes, he would be able too, but it wasn't God who carried him, now was it?

That's a very good point. I just heard somewhere that it took less than it normally would have. I might be wrong though.

Hmm, I don't know the bible that well. I agree with what caramelsilver said; God made humans and gave them their fixed biological 'tendencies' (in this context, I guess, is using nine months to fully develop the fetus) so even if he wanted Jesus to be born at the 7th month, the baby would be born premature.

Your logic makes sense, and I'm thinking I was completely wrong. I just looked through all four gospels and there's nothing in there about it taking less than nine months.
