Danger, Will Robinson!

I was trying to hold off turning on the heat until November. It's gas, and it's expensive. But my apartment is frigid, so I gave in. It's an old gas stand-up heater. I got home late, turned on the heat and opened up osme ice cream. (I know, I know ... counterintuitive ( Read more... )

Holy schnikies, girl! No cooking on the heater, please!

Our heaters won't be on for a while longer. Our lows got into the mid-50s and people are running around with jackets. Sad, I know. But this is the area where we have been known to have to wear tee-shirts and shorts on Christmas. Which is a special kind of depressing.

Dude, that's actually a great idea! Like those folks that cook on their engine while they're driving! I could cook on my heater! Hee!

And yeah, I love fall but it's still a bit weird to have it suddenly so cold. It's already getting into the 40s at night! I hope that means lots of snow in the mtns this winter, cause it's the only thing that makes winter worth while.

Growing up in California, I used to dream about what a white winter would be like. SF can easily be sixty-five degrees in December! I still try to make the family go somewhere with snow for the holidays, cause all that sun in December seems just unnatural! :)

I heard this funny sound this morning and it took me a while to realize it was the heaters kicking on... which was weird, 'cause we haven't turned them on. Scary thing -- they were set to 52... it's that cold already. We are tooooo poor to turn them on, though, so I set it all the way down. Gonna go put on my wool longjohns now and dig up my good fingerless gloves. Why is winter so eager to be here? I better not be scraping frost off my car tomorrow morning...

I know, right?! I'm wearing longjohns now. And damn! But still, how beautiful is it outside? I love me some changing trees. And here's hoping all this cold weather turns into ooodles of fluffy snow this winter! (I hear it's snowing in the mountains ...) P.S. Are you nanoing this year?

Am I nanoing this year? Of course I'm nanoing this year! And there will be drunk-ins (I'm trying to find a better name than just drunken write-in) as well, here in Ballard. Haven't got a clue what to write yet, but I'm doing it.

Hell yeah - drink-ins! Or drunk-ins! Or anything that lets liquor spike my creativity. ;) My schedule is SO much better this November, I'm in like Flynn - to the bitter, beer soaked end. Yahoo!

P.S. There is totally frost on my car this morning.
