I really enjoyed this! Following Oscar's/Linksano's thoughts and experiences as he slowly gives in to his particular brand of mad-science-madness was nicely creepy, especially the moment with the Entity-or-one-of-its-cousins, and getting to see him make his choice with Linkara was uplifting. Just this once, Oscar, the enemy of your enemy really is your friend!
Thank you for your comment! “Nicely creepy” is a pretty sweet compliment to get for this fic. I’m glad you enjoyed it. :)
The scene with the minor Entity-cousin was easily the scene I had the best time writing, so you pointing it out in particular makes me really happy. Ha, true, Oscar/Linksano wasn’t exactly keen on the whole idea of being Linkara’s double-agent at first, but it worked out for him in the end. Yes, the enemy of your enemy really is your friend! Sometimes to the point where you end up bringing a foam lizard to life to give as a Christmas present later on down the road. XD
I’m so pleased you liked the mix and I’m so stunned with this fic. It’s PERFECTION. Seriously, wow.
They shared one last reassuring glance at each other, and then went back to working into the night. Everything would be okay. They would at least have each other and as long as they stuck together, they could get through anything. It would be only two weeks later that Oscar Schlumper would find himself alone, hugging his knees to his chest and trying desperately to process exactly how everything had ended up going so wrong. *heart breaks* Earnest young mad scientists … having their dreams of escape shattered. I can’t handle this. *sniffles*
Oscar caught himself, and his cheeks heated up to an embarrassing hue, but he couldn’t help but stare. She was exactly as he remembered her. There was not a single physical variation he could see, from the shade of her hair to the shape of her nose to the pitch of her voice. She was a beautiful and perfect in this universe as she had been in his. Auuuuuuuuuwwwww!
But something was still very wrong in this dimension. Hissing and giggling echoed all around him, inhuman sounds that chilled him to his very core. OH FUCK
“It speaks. Yes, what smart little huuuuuman. Others wither in the presence of our kind. But you speak. I will answer you, little bug eyes, as reward.” *hides under bed* AUUUUUUGGHHHHH
He had something now. Something that could destroy, something that could provide a measure of defense. Since the beams were relatively small and fairly short-ranged, he was thinking of perhaps crafting them into some sort of tool he could wear on his hands. Finger beams of some kind. Oscar grinned and aimed for the window next. The glass pane exploded into pieces upon impact and he laughed with glee. He laughed a lot more now, and laughed longer, louder, and sharper. It seemed more natural these days. Being a pathetic coward didn’t have to mean being a miserable pathetic coward, after all. He was rationalizing. Oh, oh Linksano.
Yes, there was really no need for things to be so doom and gloom all

You once made this remark on one of my first Linksano fics: “with most fanfics featuring Linksano, if you're not hurting by the end you're doing it wrong.” I kind of took that to heart. ^_^;;;;;
Earnest young mad scientists … having their dreams of escape shattered. I can’t handle this. *sniffles*
This might have been a little cruel on my part, but one thing I really wanted to do with this particular story was have Wayne leaving with Oscar being part of the original plan. A plan that didn’t end up going the way they thought it would.
Auuuuuuuuuwwwww!
Dorky lovestruck Oscar!
*slides onto floor to weep* Parallel worlds with heartbreaking consequences WHYYYYYYYYY … (This is everything I wanted omg.)
*slides down with you* Because FEEEEEEEELS. (I know, right?)
Oh, OUCH.
Yeah… just… OUCH.

YES. BE AFRAID. BE VERY AFRAID. (Oh my gosh I couldn’t not do this scene after re-listening to Linksano’s epic “weep for your universe!” speech)
Oh, oh Linksano.
Poor baby is trying desperately to cope somehow.
*sobs harder still*
*offers consoling pat on back*
Oh wow. Linksano’s gone so far that his goals have now changed. That … troubles me.
At least Linksano eventually mostly turns to the side of good after he gets hired? ^^;;;
*weeps but is happier about it*
Oh good, slightly happier weeping. XD
Okay in all seriousness, thank you so much for the comments. I’m glad this fic made you happy because your mix made me happy. And so I guess we’ll both be happy whist sobbing over fictional characters and their angst. Good times!
Why are you so good at breaking my heart into thousands of tiny pieces?! XD
I’m good at that? Aww, you flatter me. XD
It makes Linksano's story so much more heart-breaking if you think that originally Wayne was planning to join him on his journey before something tragically goes wrong.
I definitely liked the idea that the original plan included Wayne coming along. They’re so close that I could easily see that being the case and only some terrible, unplanned event prevented them from escaping together. Maybe in some other story I’ll write out more specifics about that.
I could fully understand why our precious scientist devolved into a brilliant though awkward fellow into the half-mad would be world-conqueror we know and love.
Since the crux of the story is detailing all the little things that went into that transition, I’m very happy that you felt it was a believable progression.
Thankfully Linksano managed to arrive on the best Earth and find his new companions. Now that Vyce has been stopped and his sanity is slowly
