I believe it was pretty much the same thing that happened to Tony (the kid in the village from chapter 12) except the way that Asriel did it was worse than what they were doing at Bolvangar so it killed him... remember how they talked about how the first people they cut would die of shock eventually? It's just the shock was so much more I guess it killed him right away. at least thats what I get from it. I wonder what you'll think of the next book... in a lot of ways it's my favorite but it drove me nuts reading it sometimes.
Liked the book very much, but it was so long ago that I read them. Look forward to the movie and hope they didn't change too much, the following two books are even better, so have fun reading! ;)
Hehe that was my favorite part of the book too :] I don't know how I stumbled onto your journal, but I'm commenting just for the sake of commenting...:D hehe They're cutting out the last three chapters of the book from the movie, which is pretty depressing IMO. That was pretty much my favorite part. Something random about test audiences thinking Lyra was walking into heaven. Yeah, you pretty much got it right; Roger died because of what Lord Asriel did, with the whole daemon-human-link-being-very-strong thing. They're attaching the first three chapters to the beginning of the 2nd movie...which to me seems out of place and random, so I hope that we get a director's cut or something. Anyway, sorry if someone already told you this, I'm just really bored and have nothing to do except browse people's journals :P
I just found out yesterday, but I didn't know why and what they were gonna do with them.
So wait, what about the previews? They show scenes that are clearly from the last three chapters. Did they cut them after they made the previews?
I mean, it sucks that they cut them out, but if they are going to include them in the next one, then that's ok. I can see how they can make it work...but they better have them in there! Damn it! That is my fav. part of book 1!
The decision was made after the previews, and they're showing a revised version now, apparently. Which sucks, 'cause I had really gotten my hopes up after seeing that split second clip of Nicole and Daniel in the second teaser trailer O.o
At least they're not completely cutting them out, which is good.
Have fun reading the next two books, I wish I could read them all again! IMO, the best one is the third :D
