I didn't intend to stop reading it or find another book to fulfill my DP requirement. I've been giving your comments some thought. You make an excellent point about familial love being everywhere that romantic love wasn't. Despite his transformation and enlightenment, Gwydion continues to act self-lessly throughout the story. The change in him was that he learned to accomplish his ends without all the collateral damage. Initally, Gwydion and Gilvaethwy didn't care who got hurt or how many died as long as they got what they wanted (Goewin). Bloduedd acted the same way -- self-centered to the extreme
