Aaah, the bond brought on by the Duke of Bluntness. I haven't talked to him in months. Wonder what he's up to?

He text messaged me a couple weeks ago because our baseball teams were playing against each other in the semi-finals of the college World Series. For the record, my team beat his to go on to the finals, although we lost miserably once we got there.

He's going to be going to Germany to study for the next year. I wanted to visit him in Arizona in the Fall, but I suppose it'll have to wait. He's trying to persuade me into visiting in Germany...lol. Although we'll both be in Europe next summer, if I go to London... how funny for us to meet up again in Europe? Oh boy. lol.

He arrived rather unexpectedly at my house over Christmas break, I think it was. I almost died of shock. Heh.

Isn't it amazing how you feel like you really get to know people through LJ, even though you've never officially "spoken" to them? Well if you're ever in northern Louisiana, or if I ever find my way to Florida, we will definately have to meet up ;)

It is pretty remarkable! I mean, Shannon and Ellen, the two girls I linked before you and Dan, I've known for... four years now. I met them when we were all using different journals than we are now. They're also both friends with my best friend from high school, and Ellen has become friends with a girl my exbf went to high school with... so it really is an interesting web that the 'net can create.

Hopefully someday we'll all end up in the same place.

And yes, it's a deal =).

Friends? Lauren and I sang Disney songs together in Lake Michigan! We might as well be related. :)

I'm sure we will meet eventually, when we're all journalistic hotshots. I feel like people who knock the Internet for its power to make friends just haven't really tried it -- it's not like you're some sketchy figure I'm trusting with my life or anything, and I feel in some ways I know my regularly updating not In Real Life LJ friends better than some of my acquaintances, if only because of the culture of complicity LJ creates. And when LJ friends transfer over into "real life" friends, I find we can bypass all the bullshit that usually takes place at the beginning of a friendship and just be honest with each other, and not awkwardly. So yay, Internet.

B.t.w. I want to write a response to your other journal entry "Of summers past," but I'll probably wait till work slows down a bit. :)

I didn't know that you and Lauren actually knew each other! I thought you were just fellow internet friends, in our odd chain of friends. LOL.

I agree completely. I've made some really great friends along the way, even if they never transfer to "real life" friends. Sometimes you just click with people, regardless of whether its in person or online. It happens =)

That doesn't quite work for me, since 99% of my journal entries are friends only and my friends are people I've met in person first, LJ names second (and I rarely get people's LJ names at that). Plus I only have 11 LJ friends.

I'm such a hermit, even on the internet.
