poor Spike hasn't had a bath since he was eighteen months old and finally gave up rolling in fox shit. I usually rely on a good diet and taking them out in the rain to keep their coats nice. But he still had that sickness/hospital funk on him and he's been eating dogfood - premium dogfood, sure, but it still smelled of dogfood. his coat was starting to make my face itch when I touched him.
I've got him back on raw now too, though it's just ground meat and not whole bones for now. Tripe breath > dogfood breath.
Ah, they both look really happy! Glad Spike's recovering so well.
How's his dry lower lip? Are you still rubbing cream into it? I ask because my dog gets a dry patch on his nose, and he kept trying to scratch it and hurting his cheek so we started using E45 on it, and it's really helped a lot, with both the dryness and itching.
I've stopped, because he seems to have somehow got the knack of not letting it get dry himself - I feel it every day to check but it hasn't been dry any more. I was using vaseline because that's what I happened to have handy.
and yeah, they do! Squish is a perfectly happy dog, but he's solemn by nature and it's rare to catch him smiling. I love that pic of him.
