Having talked to a former Elizabeth today, this counts.

Out of idle curiosity, who was that?

Mum. She goes by her middle name, not Elizabeth.

Oh, awesome, are you one too? Woot! We will slowly take over the world! (D'you actually go by "Elizabeth", or one of the many many many many derivitives?)

My birth name is Elizabeth but I've always gone by Beth, despite not really liking it. I would like to go by Eli now, but changing a nickname I've had since birth is pretty tough. ;oP

Heh, halfway though elementary I decided "Beth" was a lil kid's name, and insisted everyone call me Liz - then in highschool I decided Liz was "too common" and so went with Liza - which didn't stick till university, and now there are many people who don't even know I'm technically an Elizabeth.

I'll call you Eli if you like. :)

In honour of Elizabeth Day, I must play The Roches' song The Largest Elizabeth in the World. The lyrics can be found here. :)

Thanks for the link to the pics of Sophie Aldred. She is incredibly beautiful with her hair down.

Glad you liked it. I've since found a video clip of the Roches singing it:

The librarian post is locked; you might want to remove it.

That vid of a mother's day though? Brill! :-D

Phooey, I could have sworn I checked that. *removes it*

It killed me - it reminded me very much of my foster-mum (took me in when my parents went on thier extended honeymoon), who had four kids of her own, plus her husband, plus me and our other foster-sister, plus more pets than a small zoo (dog, cat, magpie, 3 gunnea pigs, 6 girbils, hedgehog, 3 hamsters, a canary, and 5 fish).

When my mum was yelling at us, she'd go through all the kids' and even animals' names before hitting the right one. :-P

Bwah! Yeah, that happened a lot in my family, too - I'd get called my aunts' names, my cousin's name, and the cat's name, before mine.

Ah yes! Feast day of Ste Elizabeth of Hungary, AKA St Elizabeth of the Roses, patron saint of Hungary, bakers, and labour unions - she is in fact the very Elizabeth I am named after!

Hmm. Maybe we should move the day...
