Spoiler rant

Maybe I'm just following the wrong people, but I continue to be baffled at how careless people are on Twitter and Tumblr about TV show spoilers, as opposed to people being (generally) considerate on LiveJournal. I'm not one of those spoiler-phobic people who get all rageful if spoilers appear, but in general I prefer to avoid them, or at least have ( Read more... )

I'm not on Tumblr and don't read Twitter religiously, so I haven't really noticed, but I'm not surprised. Kids today![/oldfandomlady]

The main problem, I think, is twofold.

Twitter is for immediacy. "I am squeeing!!" as opposed to LJ's "I was/sawOMGsqueeee!!" with Tumblr falling mostly closer to Twitter.

And you can cut-tag spoilers here, but not on either Twitter or Tumblr. I am not absolutely sure on that as I don't actually have accounts either place so can't be 100% positive.

You can cut tag on Tumblr, but it's rare to see. Twitter is just 140 characters, take it or leave it. :)

My understanding is that Twitter and Tumblr are not spoiler-free zones. That's not their posting culture. If I don't want to be spoiled (and I sometimes do, sometimes don't) I avoid them until I've seen the episode or whatever.

It's not just tumblr and twitter who are way too careless with Glee spoilers - it's the damn media too!
