New finds: Averi is fabulous, and I was pretty impressed with the Snow Leopards too. I grabbed about twenty other new folk-to-punk songs, too, and like them all so far. (And why did I not have this "Fall On Me" cover when I have two R.E.M. cover albums?)
I'd forgotten how much I love "Metal Drums", sad though it is. It reminds me of the song "Downwinders", about the people who lived downwind from nuclear testing sites, whose author I forget (there was "Kate" in her name and it was one of those three-name, erm. Names.)
I love "Metal Drums" too. "Downwinders" is by my friend Judith-Kate Friedman. She was in Berkeley for ages, sang for several years in Linda Hirschhorn's group Vocolot, and then fell in love and moved to Port Townsend, Washington. She's getting married any day now to a storyteller named Daniel Deardorff, who I hear wonderful things about.
