 We've just been to the hospital for the long awaited appointment with the paediatrician for Myf.  It's been confirmed that yes, she definitely has the hyper flexibility thing that I do.  Her ankles are actually the one joint that aren't all that bad (but my idea of keeping her in decent boots is the best shoe for heer so yay me!) but she's way ( Read more... )

Hyperflexibility... wow... hadn't heard about that. So she is VERY flexible? Or what does it mean? And what problems has it caused for you since you have it too?

It's a genetic condition that affects the joints-the ligaments and tendons are too elastic so the joints tend to slip in and out too easily. I was always very flexible as a child and it was fantastic for doing things like karate but my parents didn't know that this wasn't normal flexibility (I actually get it from my mum, she's just had a firm diagnosis ( ... )

It sounds pretty cool actually... well not the part that it has started hurting! You have to take a pic of Myf sitting in that position you mentioned... I'm really curious to see what it is :-D!

I always enjoyed being bendy ^_^ (excellent for martial harmony lol) and I can still kick someone over 6 feet tall in the head without stretching (and considering I'm only 5"2, that's pretty awesome!) but this past year it's kinda bit me in the arse...

I'll have a friend take a picture of me and Myf sitting next to each other in that position-it's like kneeling but with the legs spilit to either side if that makes sense?!
