From what I understand: Requests for clarification on LiveJournal's standards are sent to Abuse. A request that simply expresses an opinion on the standards goes to Feedback. Redirecting support requests like this does not appear to be a new thing--since the volunteers answering support requests cannot speak for LiveJournal about its policies, requests are often redirected to the appropriate people actually on the staff who (one hopes) will be able to say something.

I should note that I am not now and have never been a Support volunteer and so I may be wrong on this stuff. Just wanted to point out that the fact that the support requests are deleted from the regular support board is not necessarily a bad sign.

I was a support volunteer at one time, and while I am in no way speaking for LiveJournal, I'd imagine that this is what is happening. This is an Abuse matter, not a public support matter.

I used to be an active support volunteer--a supporthelp, in fact, which means that I helped with supervising and training.

You're right.

The volunteers who work the public boards aren't qualified to comment on policy or on actions by the Abuse Team. Those requests have always been moved to the private Abuse category, which--because it's private--we can't see. The person who submitted the request should have received a link through email which will allow them to still see it, though.

Unless they've changed the code, it's not even possible to delete a request. They can be closed without comment, but in that case they would still be visible.

liz_marcs, I suggest making it clear that support requests being deleted is a false rumor. There's no evidence at all.

I poked my nose in for five seconds.

Fixed and edited. You've been credited.

Thank you.

I'm just replying because I don't want to give anyone the impression that I can speak for LiveJournal. I was just a public board volunteer, and I haven't been active in support a long time.

I could be wrong. But I do remember how the support system worked when I was still active, and I see no reason to believe that this is different.

I can see why someone unfamiliar with how the system works might make the assumption that those requests were deleted, though.
