Someone on FandomWank pointed out that these guys may not be the real culprit right now.
Instead it's possible these people, or someone who uses them as a reference, are involved:
www.perverted-justice.com

They list Livejournal as one of the 'greatest Corporate Sex Offenders', and, perhaps even more tellingly appearantly specifically mentions the Boysfuckingboys comm, which has been suspended and no one is quite sure why yet.

Interesting.

Although this doesn't strike me as Perverted Justice's MO, to be honest. Usually they target (or entrap as some people say) active groomers and recruiters. Something like this strikes me as too passive.

But, it's still an interesting piece of information, and I was able to find back-up that Perverted Justice does, indeed, consider LJ a corporate sex offender.

I agree with you that it doesn't seem like something Perverted-Justice would do (in that there doesn't seem to be any good way for the them to get publicity for having done it) but I'm starting to believe that it might be someone affiliated with them, or at least claiming to be affiliated with them. Given Lj's sudden massive turn-around on this issue I can very much imagine (And I want to stress the word IMAGINE, I have no proof, this is pure speculation) I can very much imagine that someone threatened that if Lj didn't start complying they might find themselves mentioned on a certain TV show...

Very interesting.

I've been wondering what a (fairly decent) group like P.J. would think about WoI claiming affiliation with them. Something tells me they wouldn't like it, since they themselves are on tenuous ground and wouldn't want to be dragged down by wackos who harass others.

Well, I have my doubts about PJ as a 'fairly decent' group, but I haven't been willing to pay them a lot of attention yet. I've heard some suggestions that PJ is pretty questionable in general, above and beyond it's existence as pay-for-play cowboy vigilantes. As in being a member of the 'use child predators as an excuse to attack all forms of deviancy' coalition. However, since I haven't taken the time to actually research their position, I dunno. I do agree that after the latest ethics questions (not releasing full transcripts, the entire issue of paid vigilantism) about To Catch a Predator, they're certainly on tenuous ground.

I wouldn't call PJ a fairly decent group. They claim that Wikipedia is dominated by a "pedophile cabal". The word I'd use is whacked.

I agree with previous repliers to your comment that PJ is not "a fairly decent group." Ever see Corrupted Justice?

Another tidbit, supposedly if you go to Perveted-Justice's forums (which are a free sign up) someone has said that they've been reporting communities. Of course, even if they are, WfI have also admitted to reporting some communities. In fact, for all I know WfI might even post on PJ's forums. Either way, it really seems suspicious. Something more has to be going on. Niether WfI nor some random Pj forum goer have any real push, and I can't see them actually influencing Lj in a major way. It's starting to look more and more like Lj asked their legal advisor a question and freaked out when they heard the response. I dunno. I'm going to sleep, I give up on sorting this out until Lj makes a statement.

Judging from the screenshot on the P-J.com site, boysfuckingboys included interests such as "non-con", "rape", and "shota" so was most likely suspended for that.
