In Spanish class we recently learned a little bit about the Day of the Dead holiday. This is where on November 1 and 2 you honor your dead relatives. The fictional family we learn about while watching our educational TV show has a tradition of serving favorite foods of these dead relatives

Isn't it interesting how we associate food with memories so strongly? I could make a list just like this--when I think of so many of my long lost friends and family, often the first things I think of are the foods they made!
For the record, when I think of you, I think of chocolate banana bread, hot chocolate, and meringue cookies! (I also think of darning socks, degree audits, and interesting conversations :-)

I only remember Sheena's friend, Rehanna, making those, at a Dave and Lyn party. But I did research how to make them and could have had the knowledge to make that comment about someone else's cookies that we both ate.
And I've definitely misremembered sources of things in the same way.
