I'd forgotten how bitter cold winter can be. It's been 2 years since I've seen snow at all, much less too-cold-for-snow. Plus wind chill. Jesus.

We had some bitter cold here that's now broken. I was sleeping in a hooded sweatsuit inside my down sleeping bag inside my bed, and still woke from cold in the morning. Besides the time my brother and I mountain-biked down a Colorado mountain in the winter in shorts and fingerless gloves (for my dad's midlife crisis), I spent an amazingly cold day in France traipsing to Versailles. I'm not into urban walking in the cold. My feet go numb. Speaking of which, the inauguration is going to be crazy, eh? Though I'd pondered Obama's safety, I hadn't really thought about how we'll have two million democrats and the entire gov't all clumped together for nuking purposes until I read about gunboats in the Potomac and land-to-air missiles at the ready.

All I'm saying is that we should tuck Tom Daschle away in Wyoming for safe keeping, should anything go awry.
