A friend who does a lot of Democratic volunteering asked me recently, "What exactly is so bad about George Bush?  I know torture, the Patriot Act, and starting the Iraq war, all of which I violently disagree with.  Still, if Laura Bush likes him, I feel bad about Bush-bashing because it seems like he can't be such a bad guy."

Excellent post.

CNN has a clock for the countdown to the election; I find it strangely soothing. Fortunately, I've not seen a Republican in person for months. It does wonders for the blood pressure. (If only Jon Stewart didn't show Fox clips all the time...)

I'll be crawling out of bed early to watch the election live. I really hope the venue serves alcohol because if we lose, all I have to look forward to are 4 years of alcoholism and a quickie marriage to a Brit.

There are people here planning all-night election parties in the absence of Americans. I'm having my own party, and me and Flatmate are definitely staying up all night. We're hoping to go out for Victory Breakfast.

If you could manage to look like a permanent UK resident for 3 years, and you married a Brit, you could get nationalized and then have your own little passport to the EU for the rest of your life. (In a crazy country like this, you could marry *me*, wink wink).
