He finds her during lunch break, she's leaning over the picnic table, trying to steal something from Sora's lunchbox when he taps her on the shoulder. He grins at her, pulling his tie loose until it dangles around hsi neck in what he considers a rakish manner.
"Walk with me." it's not a question, just a gathering of words. Axel's confident that she'll come with him.
She does, falling in step beside him. He brushes his hand against hers, the closest he'll come to PDA in such a public setting. Kairi knows this, accepts it, and doesn't push for more.
They talk about idle things; her art classes, his biking competitions, their families ("how's Reno?" and he grumbles dark things under his breath as he leans across her to wrap his arm around her waist), he teases her about an incident in gym until she tries to push him away, flustered. Axel chuckles, leaning over to brush a kiss against her forehead. His way of making amends.
"Why do I put up with you?" Kairi sighs, snuggling closer against his side. They're deep in the school's garden now, the noisy chatter of the lunch crowd a mere hush in the background.
"Because I give you things like this?" He opened his hand, revealing a delicate bracelet made of two stands of silver braided together and ending in a tiny heart charm.
Kairi felt her breath catch in her throat, "Axel, what?" She couldn't seem to finish the question as he moved to put the bracelet on for her.
"It's our three month anniversary, I got that memorized," he taps the side of his head, a pleased expression on his face.
"I don't have a present for you," Kairi whispers, guilt gnawing at the edge of her being.
Axel gives her a funny look, as if he's surprised to hear that. "Sure you do! Thought you could hide it from me? I see it, right here." He leans in close, sealing their lips together as his hands came to tangle in her hair.
