Awwww! This is incredibly sad. Sherlock's depression is palpable and his suppositions about John...I don't know if they are true or not. I'd love to see this from John's POV.

Depression was my first thought, as well... Some people have theorized that Sherlock seems to be bipolar; manic and active when he's working, listless and unmotivated when he's not. And, wow... honestly I found this fic hard to read, I see myself WAAAAY too much in some of things Sherlock is doing (and not doing).

My first thought was also depression, Sherlock-style - now you say about bipolar, it does sound plausible.

"On days like these he picks his battles wisely and celebrates the victory over the small things. Push on."

" ... currently congratulating himself on having the wherewithal to get up and make a cup of tea without having a nervous breakdown, ... " - These two lines in particular hit home; for me they captured the feelings perfectly.

I can definitely get behind the bipolar idea; it's scary when they hit a trough and that was what I was trying to convey.

Lately, "Push on" has been my mantra.

I really feel for Sherlock here. He is a mess. You capture it so well, it's convincing and feels so real. I can't help but want John to come home and make it better! But don't get me wrong, I think you've written Sherlock's angst wonderfully.

That's a big compliment, thank you. I wanted to capture what would happen once he'd gone past the flouncy, shooting the wall stage. I might do a follow up when John comes home. :)

It's a real relief to find out John's coming home early - Sherlock doesn't sound like he could possibly hold out another five days.
