In a previous version of this post I disparaged Falwell's integrity. Then having read and heard a lot about him in the last couple days, I have come to the conclusion that his integrity was intact. Falwell really believed that homosexuality and abortion (etc) were WRONG and he stuck to those values for his whole life. He spoke out and in his words he tried to be "forthright and candid". I find his values to be a great distance from those of Jesus, and I find him to have been rather sex-obsessed, but this doesn't make him all that unique. What was unique about Falwell was that he spoke his heart, frankly and publicly, no matter what people said about him. And in that, I can find something to admire. That is, in fact, what I want McCain to do. Be more like Falwell.
