Offered: Original fiction (novel)
Offer: I will write an entirely original novel (to be defined as a completed story 50,000 words or longer) over the course of one year, about anything you want that is in my power to write at least marginally well. For this reason, nothing explicitly sexual in nature, though I have no aversion to romance--in fact, some will probably sneak its way into my writing in varying degrees. I prefer to write fantasy (contemporary, paranormal, “fairy tale,” medieval--pretty much anything), “soft” science fiction (I don’t know enough science to write something scientifically plausible), and occasionally historical fiction (time period and setting negotiable). But that’s not all that I write--the best bet is to ask me if you’re at all unsure about my level of willingness to write in a particular genre.
You can have whatever level of involvement in the story that you want. You can give me an entire plot chapter by chapter with character lists and everything. You can critique every chapter as you receive it and I can respond to what you liked and didn’t like. You can also give me a one-line description of what you’re looking for and leave it at that. If you’re less detailed about your desires for the plot/characters/setting, I’ll ask for a list of favorite books and authors so I can get an idea for what you’ll enjoy. For a point of reference, my favorite authors are Diane Duane, Julie E. Czerneda, Jim Butcher, J. K. Rowling, Jane Austen, and Charlotte Brontë.
If you’re interested in seeing samples of my writing in general or in a specific genre, I will e-mail you short stories or novel excerpts at your request.
I reserve all copyright on the resulting piece of fiction, including the ability to revise, elongate, or excerpt it for publication under my name at any future date. However, if some miracle results in its publication, I promise to acknowledge the buyer’s influence upon the story.
