Three?

Dec 14, 2007 22:50

I heard Christmas is coming up. Not too sure what it is exactly but I think it's safe to assume it's 'Thanksgiving'-like? Eating, family, more eating...oh, and gift giving. I guess I better start shopping for presents now, right?

what would a crazy roommate want?, crap what do you guys want??, christmas, gifts, should i make a list and check it twice?

Mm... I did it last year when I was here. It's... yeah, pretty much like that.

Well you know better than I do; what do people typically get each other for this holiday?

Well... what they want, really.

Anything.

Oh, so anything you would want?

-There comes an ominous rustle from down the hall, getting closer and closer to the apartment door until it suddenly stops--

..Ah, Iruka-sensei?

Pretty much. It's a time to celebrate all the good things in life.

I thought that was Thanksgiving. Or are they really just the same thing in different months...?

There is also a lot about God's son being born - but I figured if someone is not from the same sort of Earth they may not have God or Jesus.

Oh, and here I thought it was all about presents.

It's like thanksgiving with less turkey (unless you're british) more ham, and a lot of trees and tinsel. You haven't decorated?

Reply

liveand_learn December 16 2007, 07:10:49 UTC
Wait, decorations are needed? Uh, should I tack up posters of hams and...trees?

ohrosalita December 16 2007, 07:18:42 UTC
No, Iruka. You buy a tree and put the decorations on that. Would you like me to come over and show you sometime?

And as for the real meaning of christmas, it got lost somewhere between being a pagan festival of lights in the darkness, the celebration of a special kid being born, and getting trademarked by a well known cola company. Thesedays it's about eating too much, spending too much and keeping good company.

Huh, if that's true I think I like today's meaning more. It's less...muddled. And I think I got the tree part down but I won't mind some help getting the decorations.

I think the whole purpose of this holiday is the present giving. Egoistical...

((LOL did we win the award for the latest backlog ever yet?))

It's not egoistical if someone is doing the gift-giving~
